Things to do in Le Marais

Le Marais is a Right Bank district, not a separate town: it sits inside Paris, alongside Montmartre and the Latin Quarter in the same catalogue, so nothing beyond an ordinary walk or a couple of metro stops is needed to reach it from wherever you are staying.

Rather than a single site to check off, it rewards wandering its narrow historic streets, lined with independent boutiques, art galleries and long-standing Jewish bakeries around Rue des Rosiers. Because Le Marais holds international tourist zone status, some shops stay open on Sunday, when much of Paris closes.

Expect crowds on Saturday afternoons and warm spring or autumn days (around 15-20°C) for the easiest walking pace.
